A Jashn, a celebration, a tribute. Jashn-e-Rekhta, a unique festival celebrating Urdu’s inimitable beauty, its soul-stirring cadence and its lyrical splendour. Jashn-e-Rekhta is celebrated in the quintessential spirit of Urdu, its inclusive ethos, creative richness and linguistic heritage. For three mesmeric days, some of the Urdu’s finest poets, authors and artists came together to bring alive Urdu’s lyrical beauty and resonating eloquence through live performances, panel discussions and interactive sessions. Jashn-e-Rekhta explored and showcased various genres of the language through diverse mediums. No matter what the audience’s area of interest or familiarity with the language, the festival offered something for everyone.
This year again Global Nexus got the opportunity to celebrate the 5th Edition of the Jashn-E-Rekhta, the largest Urdu language festival in the world. The three days annual festival was organized from 14th to 16th December 2018 at Major Dhyanchand Stadium, New Delhi, India. This is the fourth time Global Nexus has been part of Jashn-E-Rekhta as a service provider. Like every year this year also the festival has been graced by beautiful Urdu poetry and literature by eminent celebrities from the film, music and television industry.
Prominent people like Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Annu Kapoor, Farahat Ehsas, Kumar Vishwas, Asif Shaikh, Ahmad Khan, Shamsur Rahman Faruqi, Mahmood Farooqui, Purushottam Agarwal, Urdu professor Gopi Chand Narang and many more were there to grace the event. The event was huge success and had various entertainment programs like: Mushairas, Qawwali, Sufi Music, Drams and Plays, etc. and simultaneously attendees were also enjoying “Aiwan-e-Zaiqa”, a specially curated Rekhta Food Festival this has always been an important part of this 3-Day Urdu Festival. It had the cuisines from all over Asia and the Middle East such as Kashmiri cuisine, Bihari cuisine, Turkish delicacies, Purani Dilli chaat and much more. One more major attraction was “Rekhta Bazaar” showcasing cultural artifacts and quirky merchandise, items decorated with calligraphy and other handicraft goods.
It has received overwhelming success in last four years and this year also it has drawn more than one lakh visitors.
